ABOUT ROB

In January 2015, Rob became one of very few people to have ever successfully run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. He’s a sucker for punishment and regularly puts his body to the test. He’s raced marathons (very quickly), triathlons, the Ironman, long-distance open water swims and is always on the lookout for his next challenge.

Rob is the son of a scout leader and has always had a curiosity to explore his surroundings. Thrill seeking has taken him to all corners of the planet; from canoeing the remotest waters of the Yukon, to rallying through the Sahara, trekking in the Arctic on a climate science recce and working as a ski lift operator in the Canadian Coastal Mountains.

He has recently become the only presenter to have filmed on board the UK's Nuclear Deterrent Submarine Service whilst it was fully armed and on duty at sea in a one-off special for Channel 5.

His 7 marathons adventure was televised in a 2-part series for Travel Channel in April 2015 – ‘Monster Marathon Challenge’. The same broadcaster followed Rob in 2013 on another global pursuit for the 6-part series ‘Man v World’ – in which he undertook various point-to-point journeys using almost 30 different modes of transport with one overriding rule: No engines allowed.

Rob graduated from the University of Bath with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with French. Be it man-made, natural, historical, futuristic, big or small – he loves getting his hands dirty and finding out how stuff works. He actively champions STEM subjects (Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths) and is passionate about raising the profile of Engineering amongst school kids.

He first appeared on our screens in 2012 presenting the hit BBC Two series ‘Engineering Giants’. Since then, Rob has hosted further factual documentaries for BBC One, BBC Four, Channel 5, Yesterday, Travel Channel, and Quest.

Rob’s engineering background has also been sought for corporate films and events with companies & organisations including BMW, Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, British Airways, Shell, Kongsberg, HS2, the National Grid, Freyssinet, UK Chamber of Sh ipping, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers & the Institution of Engineering & Technology.
